Can't Live With 'Em, Can't Live Without 'Em

This is a little film I made in the summer of 2005. During my Sophomore year at RIC in Filmmaking Workshop II we had to produce a found footage project. I chose to go through DVD dollar bins, look through the footage and find the racism, violence, and female oppression throughout the old films/cartoons/shows (and it was very easy to find). Taking audio clips about racism and violence in media, I couldn't find anything on female stereotypes or oppression anywhere. I got this idea that why don't I go around the dorm and record my guy friends saying women jokes that they've heard and know.

While filming them for their audio I got this idea wouldn't it be funny if I made a short film of a group of girls and a group of guys switching back and forth throwing men and women jokes at each other. I made up a script and went to filming that following summer.

Stephen Jay ("Weird Al" Yankovic's bassist) kindly gave me permission to use his music for the film. Listening to his music since middle school, it was great to have him involved in the project. His music is great. Here's his website if you want to hear more of his stuff: http://www.stephenjay.com.

The only complication I had in this film was the audio, and the lighting at Jake's house was a little tricky.
